The labour market in the southern province of Dong Nai remains stable after the recent social disturbances that caused damage to several companies and factories in the locality.

The affirmation was made by Lam Thanh Thu, deputy head of the Dong Nai Employment Centre, on June 10 after the province’s 74th job fair ended.

Thu said that 26 businesses took part in this fair with the recruitment demand of nearly 1,200 labourers, quite similar to that in previous events.

At the fair, enterprises received nearly 600 resumes from job-seekers, he said, adding that most applicants want to change their current position, while most businesses need to recruit more employees as they want to expand operations.

According to the provincial Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, all enterprises affected by the recent riots have stablised their production, while all workers have also returned to work.

The riots erupted on May 13-14 in the locality and Ha Tinh and Dong Nai provinces during workers’ rallies against China’s illegal placement of its oil rig Haiyang Shiyou – 981 in Vietnam’s continental shelf and exclusive economic zone.
