Ecuador pledges to create favourable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to access its market and establish cooperation and investment ties in the country, especially in the fields of oil and gas, and telecommunications.

Ecuadorean Minister of Foreign Relations, Trade and Integration Ricardo Patino Aroca made the affirmation during his talks with Vietnamese Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh in Hanoi on June 24.

The Ecuadorean minister, who is on his first visit to Vietnam from June 21-25, affirmed that his country considers Vietnam an important partner in Southeast Asia and wants to boost multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam .

He said he admires Vietnam’s achievements in its past struggle for national independence and the current national development.

FM Minh expressed his thanks for Ecuador ’s assistance and cooperation, affirming that Vietnam always attaches importance to developing friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Ecuador as well as other nations in Latin America .

During the talks, the two ministers agreed to increase visits by the two countries’ high-ranking leaders, effectively implement the mechanism of political consultation, strengthen activities of diplomatic missions, accelerate the establishment of suitable legal frameworks and boost cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, science-technology, culture and tourism.

They also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern and agreed to enhance coordination and mutual support at international organisations and multilateral forums like the United Nations, Non-Aligned Movement and the Forum for East Asia and Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC).

After the talks, the two ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the two ministries on economic cooperation mechanisms in the Pacific Rim.-VNA
