Eight main roads heading to Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre will be converted into designated routes for the 26th ASEAN Summit from April 24 to 27, announced the city’s Traffic Police Chief Mohd Nadzri Hussain on April 16.

The roads from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Subang airbase will also be designated routes for the Summit, he added.

Nadzri said no roads will be closed during the event and traffic flow will only be stopped temporarily to make way for vehicles carrying VIPs and ASEAN heads of states.

Road users are being advised to follow traffic rules and police instructions and avoid using the designated roads whenever possible.

The Summit is scheduled to open at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on April 26 and conclude at the Langkawi International Convention Centre on Langkawi Island the next day.

Other related conferences, including the ASEAN Senior Official Meeting, 12th ASEAN Leadership Forum, ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting and Preparatory Senior Officials Meeting will take place from April 24-26.-VNA
