A conference was held on February 28 to build technical guidances for environmental impact assessment reports of the rare earth mining and processing projects in Vietnam.

The event was jointly organised by Vietnam’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

According to Deputy Minister Bui Cach Tuyen, the mining of rare earth requires a general environmental evaluation before the projects are started as this is still new to Vietnam .

Tomisaka, a JICA expert also affirmed that the Japanese Government will support Vietnam with environmental issues in the coming time.-VNA
