Ho Chi Minh City authorities have planned a project in the 2013-2018 period to send about 100-125 cooperative managers and farmers to visit and gain knowledge from farms overseas.

According to the project, the study tours will focus on building new rural areas, economic cooperation forms in agriculture and the application of modern scientific and technical advances in agricultural production.

The project aims to help the city’s agriculture develop firmly as well as successfully implementing the new-rural area programme and the agricultural restructuring plan for the 2011-1015 period with a vision towards 2020.

Countries and territories selected as destinations for the study tours include Thailand , the Republic of Korea , Malaysia , Singapore and China .

During the 2006-2010 period, the HCM City farmer association also organised overseas study tours for 117 managers and members.

The city, which is the biggest economic hub in southern Vietnam , has more than 90,000 households involved in agricultural production.-VNA
