A Finnish delegation led by EiJa Rotiner held a working session with leaders of the central city of Da Nang on June 11 to discuss measures to further foster links between the city with the Northern European country.

Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Phung Tan Viet briefed the guests on the city’s socio-economic achievements in recent times, while introducing them to local potential and strengths.

Rotiner praised the achievements made by Da Nang - a young and dynamic city - in its renewal process. She also informed the hosts about working results between the delegation with local agencies, seeking future cooperation opportunities between her country and the locality.

In recent years, universities in Da Nang have established ties with several counterparts in Finland and they jointly implement a number of projects on improving the quality of education.

The Finnish non-governmental organization Fida International has recently also signed with the Da Nang Association for People with Disabilities a 70,000 EUR project, which is expected to promote living skills for local disabled people.

In the second phase of the Innovation Partnership Programme (IPP) between Vietnam and Finland, Da Nang is one of the four pilot localities that were selected to build regional creative renovation models based on developing specific products unique to the locality.-VNA
