A container aboard a Republic of Korea ship, which sank off the coast of Vung Tau following a collision, went up in smoke and burst into flames on November 9.

Fire distinguishers were sent to the scene to deal with the problem.

Investigation into the fire is underway.

The Heung A Dragon was carrying containers from Hong Kong to Ho Chi Minh City when it collided with the Marshall Islands vessel Eneli, which was departing from Phu My sea port in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau .

The clash on November 7 resulted in the sinking of the Heung A Dragon with about 68 containers left floating in the sea.

As many as 24 containers of the 68 ones have been found while the remaining are still missing.

All 19 crewmembers of the ship have been rescued and returned to shore safely by Vung Tau Port Authority and the provincial border guard.-VNA
