Mai Thi Bich Lam has become the first aerobic Vietnamese coach to receive International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) Coaching Brevet certification after finishing level 3 of the FIG's Aerobic Academy.

To qualify for a brevet, coaches are required to have significant national and international coaching experience and achieve a minimum of 85 percent on the Academy examinations. Lam got 87 points on the combined theoretical and practical tests.

"I attended level 1 and level 2 courses to increase my coaching skills and didn't think of taking part in level 3. When I was accepted to participate in level 3, I only said to myself that I had to try my best," Lam said.

"The result surprised me a lot. International coaches are better than us, so I didn't think I would receive this honour."

Besides Lam, three other coaches earned the certification: Angela McMillan of New Zealand and Mariyan Kolev and Desislava Bogusheva from Bulgaria.

This enables them to be lecturers in the next courses for international coaches organised by FIG.-VNA
