Hanoi (VNA) – A flash flood has swept five villages in Magelang district of Central Java, western Indonesia, killing 10 and leaving two others missing.

The Indonesian Agency for Disaster Management reported on April 30 that the flood destroyed 71 houses and forced 170 people to evacuate.

More than 1,500 personnel have been deployed to the site for search and rescue missions and humanitarian aid activities.

Meanwhile, in West Java, on April 30, at least 11 people were killed and 47 others were injured in a road accident.

Local police said a bus en route from Jakarta to Cianjur suddenly lost braking power and hit three cars and four motorbikes nearby, before plunging into a 15-metre ravine.
