Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh joined his Southeast Asian counterparts in a ministerial meeting that opened in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on November 17 in preparation for the upcoming ASEAN Summit.

The ASEAN Ministerial Meeting (AMM), chaired by Cambodian FM Hor Namhong, will adopt a series of final documents that will be submitted to the 21 st ASEAN Summit, the East Asian Summit and related meetings early next week.

The FMs are expected to approve basic principles for the ASEAN+3 Summit with China, Japan and the Republic of Korea, and the ASEAN+1 Summits with China, the US and other partners.

The meetings of the ASEAN Political-Security Council (APSC) and the ASEAN Cooperation Council (ACC), as well as the preparatory ASEAN Economic Ministerial Meeting (Prep-ASEM) took place on the same day.

Observers in Phnom Penh said that the East Sea dispute will be tabled and the ASEAN Declaration on Human Rights will be adopted at upcoming meetings.
