Former Cambodian King Norodom Sihanouk has passed away in Beijing at the age of 90, according to China ’s Xinhua News Agency.

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Nhiek Bunchhay told Xinhua over telephone that the former King died at around 2 am on October 15 due to natural cause when he was in Beijing for medical check-up.

He further said King Norodom Sihamoni will fly to Beijing in the morning of the same day to bring his father's body home for a traditional funeral.

The former King Sihanouk was born on October 31, 1922. He suffered from various forms of cancer, diabetes and hypertension and had been treated by Chinese doctors in Beijing for years.-VNA
