A delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs visited the Lao Embassy in Hanoi on March 20 to congratulate the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) on the occasion of their 60th founding anniversary (March 22, 1955).

During the meeting, delegation leader Deputy Minister Dang Minh Khoi hailed the significant achievements of the LPRP in national building and development over the past 60 years.

He expressed his belief that Laos will successfully implement the Resolution of the 9th Party Congress and organise the 10th National Party Congress in 2016.

The Vietnamese Communist Party, State and people always prioritise the special solidarity, traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, Khoi affirmed.

He also said that the ministry will continue cooperating closely with its Lao counterpart and the Lao Embassy to implement joint agreements between the two nations and the two ministries.

Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Somphone Sichaleune acknowledged the support provided by the Party, Government and people of Vietnam for Laos.

He believes the special relationship and comprehensive cooperation will be ever-lasting, deepening and becoming more effective. He also pledged to closely work with the ministry to boost the relationship’s development.

The same day, Senior Lieutenant General Mai Quang Phan, member of the Central Party Committee and Deputy Director of the Vietnam People’s Army’s General Department of Politics (GDP), visited the Lao embassy to convey the Ministry of National Defence’s congratulations on the occasion.

Phan called for fostering defence cooperation between the two countries’ armies in terms of education, training and delegation exchanges.-VNA
