Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam-Ukraine Friendship Association organised a friendship exchange event in Hanoi on August 30 to mark Ukraine’s 25th Independence Day (August 24).

The association’s President Dang Van Chien said that Vietnam and Ukraine established diplomatic ties on January 23, 1992, paving the way for bilateral cooperation in numerous fields.

The two countries have organised regular delegation exchanges through State, National Assembly and Government channels.

Two-way trade turnover has increased rapidly, but potential in trade cooperation has yet to be tapped fully.

Collaboration in culture, education and tourism is also thriving.

There are nearly 10,000 Vietnamese people living in Ukraine, who act as a bridge contributing to strengthening the two countries’ relations.

Ukrainian Ambassador to Vietnam Oleksiy Shovkoplias expressed his belief that the Ukraine-Vietnam friendship and cooperation will grow further in the coming time.-VNA
