A teenage futsal team from the Central Highland province of Gia Lai took part in an international friendly football tournament in Malaysia from July 2-4.

The tournament was an opportunity for Vietnam’s young players to compete and learn from Malaysia’s players.

The first futsal match took place on July 3, with the Gia Lai team running out winners against an U15 team from the State of Selangor in Malaysia with an overpowering victory 5-3.

However, in the second match taking place on July 4, Vietnam lost 1-4 against a stronger Malaysian U15 team, even though throughout the match the Vietnamese players battled hard.

The tournament was an unforgettable experience for the young Vietnamese players, who were competing in their first international football tournament.

During their visit to Malaysia, the Vietnamese team was warmly welcomed by the heads of the Malaysian Football Association. Earlier this year, Gia Lai’s football team won their title at the 13th futsal tournament for needy children, the VietCapital Bank Cup 2012.-VNA
