Hundreds of scientists, doctors and experts from many domestic and international hospitals shared their experience and updated new methods in gastrointestinal endoscopy at a symposium in the central city of Hue on April 13.

Hosted by the Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy (HUMP), the event was part of the Hue Science Festival 2014, themed “Medical Achievements towards Community Health.”

Participants also heard Vietnam’s gastrointestinal endoscopy development over the past time as well as cooperation between the HUMP and Japan’s Nogoya Medical University.

Some gastrointestinal endoscopy techniques were performed at the HUM Hospital.

As a biennial event coinciding with the Hue Festival, the Hue Science Festival 2014 will take place from April 11 to 17.

It will feature a symposium on cervical cancer diagnosis and treatment on April 15 with the participation from scientists from Australia, the US, Japan, France, Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam.-VNA
