The 23rd Global Summit of Women wrapped up in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur on June 8.

With the theme “Women: Creating New Economies,” three-day summit drew the participation of 1,100 delegates from 72 countries and territories. The Vietnamese delegation to this year’s event was led by Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan.

During the summit, participants highlighted the significant contributions women have made to restructure the economies and change the global marketplace.

They agreed on the pivotal role of women in all fields of social life, considering women an essential motivation in boosting economic growth.

Women need to further promote their self-reliance and incessantly improve themselves to affirm their role and position in the society, they said.

Delegates also called for the abolishment of gender prejudice in order to create more favourable and equal development conditions for women.

France will be the host of the 2014 Global Summit of Women.-VNA
