HCM City (VNA) – The Goethe Institute in HCM City will host an introduction to the third edition of the photobook Ho Chi Minh City: Mega City by Michael Waibel on October 9.

The book features 450 photos and descriptions in Vietnamese and English and gives readers an overview of the city from the past to the present.

The event will include speeches on the book and the city’s sustainable urban development by Waibel and Do Phu Hung.

Waibel is a senior researcher and project leader in urbanism at the Department of Geography at the University of Hamburg. In 2014, he copublished Ho Chi Minh City: MEGA City with Henning Hilbert of the Vietnamese-German University. Waibel’s previous publications include the photobooks Hanoi: CAPITAL City and Da Nang: COASTAL City.

Hung is the head of the Department of Urban Planning at the HCM City University of Architecture.

The event will be held in both Vietnamese and English. It will begin at 10 am at the Trung Nguyen Café, 19B Pham Ngoc Thach Street, District 3. Entrance is free.-VNA
