The Domestic gold price hit a new record on the morning of August 6, standing at 41.9 million VND per tael (one tael is equal to 1.2 ounces), an increase of 370,000 VND per tael from August 5’s trading session.
 
This was the sixth consecutive day in the week of gold price hike. The week also marked an unprecedented record increase of 1.75 million VND per tael compared to price of the early week.

During the week, after every trading session, domestic gold and jewelry companies widened the gap between their buying and selling prices. At the Bao Tin Minh Chau Jewelry Company in Hanoi on August 5, the rate was at 130,000 VND per tael, it rose 160,000 VND per tael in the following day.

The USD price was relatively stable. The average interbank exchange rate stayed at 20,608 VND/USD./.
