Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Golden Book of Creativity 2016 debuted on August 29, honouring outstanding individuals whose research works and applications in the field of natural and applied sciences have significantly contributed to the country’s socio-economic development.

The book, the first of its kind, will encourage individuals, agencies, organisations and enterprises to strongly engage in creative activities and scientific researches and technology development in all fields, said President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan.

This will help improve productivity, quality, and effectiveness of the national economy for successful international integration, he said during a ceremony to introduce the publication, which was jointly held by the VFF, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, and the Ministry of Science and Technology on the occasion of the upcoming 71st Independence Day (September 2).

Meanwhile, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan lauded the initiative to compile the book that comprises 71 highly applicable creative scientific and technological works.

The NA leader proposed that relevant agencies continue encouraging sectors at all levels as well as Vietnamese people at home and abroad to join efforts in creative works and the research and application of scientific and technological advances, thus contributing to the national growth.

At the ceremony, certificates and copies of the book were presented to authors of works contained in the book.

Among the authors with highly applicable inventions is Mai Van Cuc, who made a biological fly trap.
