The Government has issued Decree 20/2014/ND-CP (Decree 22) on universal primary education and illiteracy eradication, according to the Vietnam Government Portal.

T he State would prioritise and invest in schools in favor of universal education and illiteracy eradication.

Under the newly-approved decree, international organisations, foreigners, overseas Vietnamese are encouraged to join in the mission in line with the current regulations.

The State would apply preferential policies on tuition fee reduction and exemption in universal education and illiteracy eradication programmes.

The new document set specific criteria on universal education at kindergarten schools, secondary education and illiteracy eradication.

Decree 22 replacing Decree 88/2001/ND-CP will come into force from May 15, 2014.-VNA
