Another Vietnamese competitor at the competition, Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son enjoyed a win over Vladimir Akopian of Armenia after 48 moves.
Liem will face Barbosa and Son takes on Akopian again in the second leg of the first round on August 13.-VNA
