founding anniversary.
Nghi was speaking while receiving US Ambassador to Vietnam Michael Michalak in Hanoi on Aug. 12.
At the reception, the two sides expressed pleasures at the further development of Vietnam-US cooperation and friendship.
The Hanoi Party Committee Secretary informed his guest of the city’s socio-economic situation after one year of expansion and the preparation for the Thang Long-Hanoi millennial celebrations in 2010.
Ambassador Michalak thanked the city’s government for creating favourable conditions for the US embassy’s operation in Vietnam.
The year 2010 is not only to mark the capital city of Vietnam’s founding anniversary, but also the 15th year of the normalisation of diplomatic relations between the two countries, said the ambassador./.
