Hanoi (VNA)  - The Hanoi Party’s Committee will direct to increase the role and responsibility of all-level Party committees, authorities and heads of agencies in the fight against corruption, an official has said.

Politburo member and Secretary of the municipal Party’s Committee Hoang Trung Hai made the remark at a working session with Head of the Party Central Committee’s Internal Affairs Commission and deputy head of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption Phan Dinh Trac in Hanoi on August 26.

The function aims to review the city’s implementation of Resolution No 3 of the Party Central Committee (10th tenure) on the enhancement of the Party’s leadership in fighting against corruption and wastefulness.

Hai said Hanoi plays an important role in the State management work and corruption prevention.

The city has opened thousands of conferences to enhance awareness for nearly 1.5 million officials while revising and promulgating hundreds of documents suitable with the local situation.

He also pointed to shortcomings in the field, including inadequate understanding of the fight among a number of Party members and ineffective implementation of anti-corruption work.

In the time ahead, the city will accelerate communication campaigns to popularise anti-corruption policies and laws, he said.

He proposed the Party Secretariat, the Politburo and the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption amend and supplement Regulation 183 – QD/TW issued in April 2013 by the Party Secretariat on stipulating the functions, tasks and organisation of the centrally-run Internal Affairs Commissions, suggesting clarifying the operational scope of anti-corruption officials, among others.

Deputy head of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption Phan Dinh Trac hailed Hanoi as one of the leading localities in the field with many effective anti-corruption programmes.

He reminded the city to pay more attention to improving legal documents, strictly handling any violations and increasing officials’ awareness.-VNA
