The fourth Congress of the Asian National Museum Association (ANMA) will be held in Hanoi this October, according to the Vietnam National Museum of History (VNMH).

The event is a chance for the VNMH to improve its position and influence in the world, while boosting its cooperation with other national museums in the region and across the globe.

During the congress, ANMA members will have opportunities to share their experience and information on museum-related activities such as collection, management, preservation, display, research, education and training, thus forming multilateral and bilateral cooperation projects.

This year’s event, themed “Peace – Cooperation – Development”, will focus on how m useums contribute to changing awareness of heritage conservation and development, heritage and museum tourism and their educational role.

In the framework of the fourth ANMA congress, the Vietnam National Museum of History will open a special exhibition featuring people, history and culture of ANMA members.

Objects to be displayed are chosen from collections of the VNMH and some other Vietnamese museums. Documents and images provided by ANMA members will also be introduced at the exhibition.

Established in 2007, ANMA aims to enhance mutual understanding by implementing collaborative programmes concerning museum-related activities, share knowledge on cultural heritages kept by member museums and encourage the utilisation of such knowledge, facilitate the richness of Asian cultures known widely to the world and exchanges in information, human resources and exhibitions.

The biennial ANMA congress is held in turn by each member. The association’s third congress was hosted by China in 2011 tenure , during which Vietnam was elected as ANMA Chair for the 2012-2013.-VNA
