Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hanoi Nguyen The Thao has expressed wishes for a closer, stronger and more efficient cooperation with the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) in the coming time.

Chairman Thao and other city leaders on June 13 paid a visit to VNA’s staff at the agency’s headquarters on the occasion of the 88th anniversary of Vietnam’s Revolutionary Press Day (June 21).

“Our information work has been assisted significantly by VNA and other press agencies,” Chairman Thao said, mentioning the capital city’s hosting of biggest political, economic, social and cultural events in the country.

Through that assistance, municipal leaders have adopted appropriate guidelines and policies that have kept up with the current social life and efficiently served the State management.

The Hanoi leader extended his best wishes to the staff of VNA – the national news agency and the strategic and trusted information centre of the Party and State, occasioned Vietnam’s Revolutionary Press Day.

VNA General Director Nguyen Duc Loi thanked Hanoi for its unceasing assistance and wished to continue receiving it for the agency to successfully accomplish political tasks it was assigned by the Party and State.

He told the Hanoi Chairman that VNA is striving to become a modern multi-media consortium meeting regional and international standards.

VNA now has 40 different publications, including text and image reports, television, printed and electronic newspapers, and the VNEWS Television Channel. It has a staff of over 2,300 employees working in 63 bureaus in cities and provinces nationwide, and 30 bureaus overseas.-VNA
