Hanoi (VNA) – Chairman of the Hanoi People`s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung expressed his hope that the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam will continue fostering cooperation between the two nations in tree planting, investment and tackling traffic congestion.

During his reception for newly-appointed Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Kunio Umeda in Hanoi on December 1, Chung highlighted the growing relationship between Vietnam and Japan, as well as Hanoi and Japanese localities.

He acknowledged the contribution the Embassy has made to bilateral ties between the two nations in past years, particularly in investment, official development assistance, culture, health care, infrastructure, and people-to-people exchange.

He also expressed his hope that the Ambassador will develop the cooperation in an extensive and effective manner.

For his part, Ambassador Kunio Umeda hoped that the city will help prepare for the upcoming visit of the Japanese Emperor and Empress.-VNA
