The People's Committee of HCM City recently approved a 4.37 trillion VND (200 million USD) project to construct and manage a clean water supply system in the suburban Cu Chi district.

The Saigon Water Infrastructure Corporation (Saigon Water) will manage the project set to begin this July and last till December 2019.

The first phase of the project, running from now through the end of this year, involves the construction of water supply networks linking the Kenh Dong water plant with Cu Chi and ten other nearby communes.

They will also install water filtration systems and water metres for each household and alongside water tanks in areas not currently connected to a water network.

Six existing groundwater treatment stations in An Nhon Tay, Pham Van Coi, Phuoc Thanh, Thai My, Trung An and Trung Lap Ha communes will undergo renovation and a new Binh My 2 groundwater treatment station will be built.

The first phase is supposed to benefit more than 98,400 local families in the district.

When the networks are completely connected during the second phase from 2016 to 2019, all 53,100 households are expected to have running water and water meters.-VNA
