A series of exhibitions featuring the latest products of the support industry opened in Ho Chi Minh City on October 8.

With seven areas displaying products by 500 enterprises from 25 countries, the Business Alliance for Support Industry Show 2015 offers a chance for participants to access the most updated products in the field and seek partners, especially Japanese buyers.

Meanwhile, the Metalex Vietnam 2015 exhibition highlights machine tools and metal working solutions for production upgrade, alongside numerous activities to foster connections among businesses.

At the same time, the Electronics Assembly 2015 focuses on introducing machines for the electronic industry.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Duangdej Yuaikwarmdee, Deputy Managing Director and General Manager of Reed Tradex Company - the organiser – said the exhibitions aim to introduce advanced technologies for the highest production quality and productivity in the support industry in Vietnam , one of the leading manufacturers of auto and motorbike spare parts and steel in Southeast Asia .

Hirotaka Yasuzumi, Chief Representative of the Japanese External Trade Organisation (JETRO) in Ho Chi Minh City, said Japanese investment in Vietnam this year is higher than the previous year.

The domestic support industry’s supply capacity is one of the biggest concerns of Japanese investors in Vietnam as it will affect their competitiveness in price, he noted.

Vietnamese enterprises, especially those in the southern region, are becoming more self-reliant, he said, adding that many of them have been reliable partners of Japan’s leading businesses.

According to Nguyen Tuan, Deputy Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Centre for Trade Promotion and Investment, in the first nine months of this year, 397 foreign-invested projects were licenced in Ho Chi Minh City with a total capital of over 2.3 billion USD, up 115.3 percent year-on-year.

Companies from Japan , the Republic of Korea and Taiwan ( China ) are tending to build more factories in Vietnam , resulting in a high demand for spare parts and accessories, he said, noting that this is a golden opportunity for domestic enterprises to become competitive suppliers.

The exhibitions will run until October 10.-VNA
