The Education and Training Department of Ho Chi Minh City and the municipal Association for Study Encouragement on October 4 presented 150 scholarships to students with disabilities from special schools in the city.

The scholarships, each worth 1 million VND (nearly 50 USD), aim to assist the children in their study in the 2013-2014 school year, said Le Minh Ngoc, vice chairwoman of the Association for Study Encouragement.

Ten gifts were also presented to outstanding teachers from some special schools.

According to the municipal Education and Training Department, the city has 25 special schools, which enroll a total of 2,776 students, mostly children with disabilities.-VNA
