The 4th Asian Contest of Architectural Rookies Award (ACARA), a stage for the architectural industry to find rising stars, opened at Nguyen Tat Thanh University in Ho Chi Minh City on October 24.

It brought together about 30 students of architecture from 17 countries across Asia, including Vietnam, Japan, the Republic of Korea, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Myanmar.

The contest aims to support architectural education and nurture the progress of modern architecture. It also provides an opportunity for participants to feel and discuss different styles of Oriental and Western architectures.

It reviews, judges and evaluates architectural works and ideas created by students from universities in Asia.

The first edition of the contest took place in the Republic of Korea in 2012 and it has been held by one of the Asian countries every year since then.

The organising board is composed of a group of architectural experts and scholars within the continent.-VNA
