HCM City (VNA) – Chairwoman of the People’s Council of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam hosted a reception for a delegation from the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP)’s Youth Division led by Keisuke Suzuki, LDP Deputy Secretary-General and head of the division.

Showing delight at the growing cooperation between Japan and Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City in particular, Tam expressed her hope that Keisuke Suzuki will continue working to strengthen bilateral ties as well as connection among youngsters of Ho Chi Minh and Japan.

For his part, Keisuke Suzuki, who is also a legislator, said that in the future, Japan and Ho Chi Minh City should continue organising delegation exchanges to promote friendship and mutual understanding between the Youth Union of Ho Chi Minh City and the LDP’s Youth Division.

He thanked leaders of Ho Chi Minh City for supporting Japanese investors, asking the city to continue backing Japanese firms in seeking investment opportunities in the city in areas of the locality’s demand such as environmental protection, wastewater treatment, water pollution and climate change.

Japan is currently one of the top partners of Ho Chi Minh City in investment, trade, culture and education. The city is also the leading locality in carrying out people-to-people activities with Japan through cultural and art exchanges, Vietnam-Japan cultural festivals and youth, student meetings.-VNA
