The growth rate of industrial production in Ho Chi Minh City was 4 percent for the first four months of this year, only slightly higher than the 3.9 rate for the same period in 2012, according to the Municipal Department of Industry and Trade.

The city posted 3.8 percent growth in its processing industry, with the highest rates in the plastics and food processing sectors, beverages, garments, footwear, chemicals and chemical products.

Growth declined in the sectors of mining, tobacco, electronics, automobiles and machinery and equipment, with the mining sector achieving 90.9 percent of the growth recorded during the same period last year.-VNA
