Traditional markets and supermarket chains in Ho Chi Minh city have launched their business on the second day of the Lunar New Year in a bid to serve the residents’ demands.

On this occasion, supermarket chains in the city offer numerous discount programmes while continuing with sale promotions launched before Tet holiday. The Big C supermarket gives 49 percent discount on nearly 4,000 products while Aeon Tan Phu presents vouchers valuing 20,000 VND, 30,000 VND and 50,000 VND for each purchasing invoice worth from 500,000 VND (23.4 USD) or more for the first 1,000 customers of the lunar New Year.

Ample supply food and products are available at stable prices, with beverage, confectionery, seafood and fresh products selling well.

Big traditional markets such as Thi Nghe, Tan Dinh, Nguyen Van Troi and Hoa Hung are also bustling with slight increase in the price of some commodities including Da Lat lettuce, herbs, fresh coconut and flowers.

Many shopping centres, entertaining sites and restaurants are also back to their business today. Most of the food and services are from 20 percent to 30 percent higher than the normal prices, spurred by escalating prices for staff hiring and stock of food.-VNA
