HCM City (VNA)Ho Chi Minh City wants to foster ties with the Republic of Korea (RoK) in education and training, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong told Chairman of the Korea-Asia Friendship Foundation (KAFF) Choi Jae-sung on July 14.

At a reception for the Korean guest, Phong hailed KAFF for launching the construction of a centre on improving teachers’ capacity in the city.

He pledged all possible support to the Korean community living in the city so that they could become a bridge connecting Ho Chi Minh City and the RoK in the fields of economy, culture and education.

Choi, for his part, said the RoK would further enhance all-round ties with Vietnam, including economic, trade and education cooperation with Ho Chi Minh City.

He said the non-governmental KAFF will launch joint education projects and increase the exchange of lecturers between the two countries in the near future.

As home to nearly 100,000 Koreans, Ho Chi Minh City has so far signed cooperation agreements with five RoK cities.-VNA
