About 53 million people nationwide have got covered by health insurance after the Health Insurance Law has been enforced for two years, accounting for over 60 percent of the country’s population.

The Health Ministry said on June 22 in addition to 50 central establishments, 510 provincial bases, 1,190 district-level bases and 276 private clinics, more than 6,100 communal medical stations engaged in providing medical check-ups and treatment for health insurance holders.

This year’s Health Insurance Day (July 1) has the theme “Strengthen the access to health services of poor, ethnic minority people and children under six with health insurance”, aiming to draw the active social participation and support in providing the best health care services for people in need./.
