The 2nd Japanese Films and Animation Festival kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City on November 13.

Co-organised by the Japanese Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, the Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs and the Japan Image Council (JAPIC), the event aims to increase understanding about the Japanese cinematography and offer an opportunity for local young people to meet with Japanese filmmakers.

A series of 35 films are planned to be screened at the city’s BHD Star Cinema and Bitexco Financial Tower until November 18. Right at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese audiences enjoyed three movies namely Great Passage, Tada’s Do-It-All House and Dear Doctor.

Seaki Koji from the Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs expected that such a cultural exchange activity will further strengthen the relationship between the two countries.

Last year’s festival drew 4,130 viewers, showing HCM City people’s interest in Japanese films.-VNA
