A meeting to mark the 100th anniversary of the day late President Ho Chi Minh left the nation to seek ways for national salvation was held in Ho Chi Minh City on June 5.

Party Politburo member and Secretary of the Municipal Party’s Committee Le Thanh Hai recalled the great event of the nation - President Ho Chi Minh’s journey for national salvation, which started on June 5, 1911 from Sai Gon port.

He said President Ho Chi Minh creatively used and developed Marxism-Leninism to match with Vietnam’s historical situation and defined the national democratic revolution, led by the Communist Party - the pioneer guard of workers’ class, as the means to overthrow imperialists and the feudal regime to gain national independence and advance toward socialism and communism.

President Ho Chi Minh’s journey created great turning points in Vietnam’s revolution which, Hai said, had changed the development course of history and the fate of the entire Vietnamese people in the 20th century and left an unfading landmark in history of the modern world.

The Party Committee and people of Ho Chi Minh City, that bears the name of the late President, are consistently pursuing national independence and socialism, enhancing solidarity for the fast and sustainable development of the city and the entire nation.

Deputy Head of the Social Science and Humanities University’s Geography Faculty Le Minh Vinh and Secretary of the City Chapter of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Nguyen Van Hieu vowed to follow President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology and moral example as well as study his dialectic, scientific and renewal thoughts.

Earlier, Secretary of the Municipal Party’s Committee Hai attended an exhibition entitled “President Ho Chi Minh with the pathway to liberate the nation” held at the Ho Chi Minh Museum’s branch in the city.

On the occasion, the Youth Publishing House introduced two books titled “Journey following Uncle Ho’s footprints” and “Ho Chi Minh Heritage – Vietnam is the most beautiful with Uncle Ho’s name”.

The book “Journey following Uncle Ho’s footprints” depicts the late President’s journey to salvage the nation, especially the time when he left Sai Gon port on June 5, 1911 until Jan. 28, 1941 when he came home in northern mountainous Cao Bang province as well as his revolutionary activities.

The book “Ho Chi Minh Heritage – Vietnam is the most beautiful with Uncle Ho’s name” describes major events in the late President’s life with his statements and images taken from documentary films as well as photos of objects that are being displayed at the Ho Chi Minh Museum./.
