The “Holland Village 2013” opened in Ho Chi Minh City on November 22 as part of activities to celebrate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Netherlands.

“Holland Village” is an event where visitors can see Dutch street corners with bakeries and florists’, explore information and fun activities, take pictures in the 3D-photozone and taste Dutch food as well as many other activities during the event, which is themed “Trade and sustainability”.

On display are pictures of the Netherlands’ renowned windmills and wooden clogs as well as its technology advances and modern development.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Deputy Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Hua Ngoc Thuan said this is an important event contributing to promoting the Dutch culture, people and land.

He said he hopes the event will help strengthen the relations between Holland and Vietnam in general and with Ho Chi Minh City in particular and act as a bridge to boost ties between the two countries’ businesses.

Dutch Ambassador Joop Scheffers said his country always considers Vietnam as its important partner in some special fields such as climate change response, education and agriculture.

The Ambassador also noted the Netherlands is focusing its support to Vietnam in the areas of investment and trade through activities to improve the investment environment and expand business opportunities.-VNA
