The non-governmental International Centre for Eyecare Education (ICEE) is helping the treatment of refractive disorders in Vietnam over the past two years.

Under the Avoidable Blindness Initiative (ABI) of Australia , the ICEE provided 460,000 USD to carry out the programme from 2009-2013.

The ICEE, in collaboration with the Hanoi-based Central Eye Hospital , Ho Chi Minh City Eye Hospital and the Danang Technical College of Medicine, held training courses on refractive disorders for local medical staffs and eyeglass technicians.

In the coming time ICEE will continue sponsor similar training programmes in Vietnam and speed up the construction of a national training centre at the Central Eye Hospital./.
