The International Labour Organisation (ILO) will lift its sanctions on the country, according to the Myanmar Ministry of Labour.

The ILO approved the resolution at its 101 st conference in Geneva on June 13.

Subsequently, the ILO will lift the sanctions it first imposed on Myanmar in 1999-2000, after examining the country’s efforts to put an end to the use of forced labour.

The resolution also states that the ILO, as well as member nations and organisations, should offer Myanmar the technical assistance it needs.-VNA
