Indian Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj has declared her country’s readiness to boost cooperation with ASEAN in collectively addressing traditional and non-traditional challenges facing the region.

She made the statement while meeting ASEAN officials in Jakarta, Indonesia on April 23.

During the Asian-African Conference (Bandung Conference) celebrating its 60 th anniversary, Swaraj said Indian officials are currently engaged in drafting the next five-year 2016-2021 Action Plan for reinforced cooperation between India and ASEAN.

The minister said ASEAN lies at the core of India’s Act East policy, and India is willing to work with the bloc’s member states and other participating countries of the East Asia Summit for peace and stability in Southeast Asia and East Asia.-VNA
