New Delhi (VNA) – A fortnight-long joint military exercise between the Indian and Thai armies has been conducted in Himachal Pradesh State of India, said an Indian defence official on July 3.

The joint exercise, named Maitree, takes place in Chamba district aiming to promote cooperation and enhance skills and experience exchange between the two countries’ armies.

It also helps the two armies gain a better understanding of inter-operability in the context of intensifying activities against insurgence and terrorism.

The drill is an annual defence cooperation event between India and Thailand.-VNA
