Indonesia is continuing its search for 16 citizens who vanished in Turkey and are feared to have joined the self-claimed Islamic State (ISIS), according to the Antara News.

Last month, 24 Indonesians travelled to Turkey with a tour arranged by the Smailing Tour travel agency. Immediately after arriving in Istanbul, the 16 individuals separated themselves from the tour group.

Indonesian Foreign Ministry’s spokesman Arrmanatha Nasir said the incident was reported to the Indonesian embassy in Istanbul and the embassy is coordinating with Turkish police in the search.

It has not been confirmed if they joined ISIS.

Last week, Interpol Indonesia sent a letter to Interpol Turkey regarding the search but has not received a reply.-VNA
