Indonesia has pledged to support Myanmar with 1 million USD to build three elementary schools in the country’s Rakhine state.

It is hoped that the aid will enhance the bilateral cooperation between the nations and bring stability to the Rakhine region.

Indonesian Ambassador to Myanmar Sebastianus Sumarsono said Myanmar’s Government has welcomed the aid from Indonesia.

He added that as well as schools, houses are urgently needed in the state because people are still living in makeshift tents following the destruction of their homes in past conflicts.
