Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesia will host the 30th conference of the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) in 2017, according to the spokesperson of the state port operator Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) III, Edi Prayitno.

The conference will serve as a platform to share experience and common interests on certain issues faced by port officials globally.

A preparation meeting has been held in Bali, attended by more than 1,500 members and delegations from around the world.

The conference is expected to deepen business relations between ports worldwide and be a potential forum for Indonesian seaport businesses to mutually promote ideas and products and learn about port management.

The IAPH, founded in 1955, represents more than 200 ports in 90 countries. Its total cargo being serviced accounts for 60 percent of the global trade by sea as well as nearly 80 percent of the flow of containers around the world.

It is a non-profit and non-governmental organisation that is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.-VNA
