The Indonesian Researchers and Scientist Society (MIPI) has said Indonesia ’s competitiveness is still low to enable it to achieve sustainable growth.

According to the Global Competitiveness Report 2013-2014 of the World Economic Forum (WEF), Indonesia ranked 38 th of 148 countries surveyed.

Indonesian competitiveness has lagged behind many ASEAN member countries, especially Singapore which ranked second in the world in terms of competitiveness.

Switzerland led the ranking as the most competitive economy for the fifth consecutive year, according to WEF report.

MIPI said the Indonesian government, particularly a new government after the 2014 polls, must seek a model for comprehensive development of the human resources in order to increase the nation’s competitiveness.-VNA
