Under the theme, “Innovations for Equality and Sustainable Growth”, the upcoming Vietnam Innovation Day (VID) programme has been designed to provide full access to essential products and services for the poor and the community.

The programme was unveiled by Nguyen Trong Hieu, Deputy Head of the Enterprise Development Department under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, at a workshop in Hanoi on March 25.

He said the programme, likely to start receiving entries on May 5 and hold awards ceremony in mid-June, will promote efficient use of energy, traditional medicinal herbs, and agricultural products and services.

The entries should help replace high-priced products, such as imported medicines, and reduce production costs.

Workshop participants, including representatives from the World Bank, were informed that each winner will receive up to 600 million VND (roughly 30,000 USD) and total prize money will reach over 7 billion VND./.
