Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong asked the Party Central Committee's Commission for Internal Affairs to give due attention to both preventing and combating corruption as it also works now as the permanent agency of the Central Anti - Corruption Steering Committee.

During the January 13 working session in Hanoi with key members of the commission, the Party chief said the agency needs to coordinate with other agencies in making laws related to internal affairs and the corruption fight.

He also requested the commission to well prepare documents pertaining to internal affairs, security and anti-corruption for the Party’s upcoming 12 th Congress.

Trong reiterated that the re-establishment of the Commission for Internal Affairs shows the determination of the Party and State to create clearer changes in preventing and combating corruption.

Speaking at the session, head of the commission Nguyen Ba Thanh said his agency has proactively worked with other agencies in directing the settlement of serious and complicated corruption cases that caught public interests.

It also worked closely with executive bodies to accelerate the progress of investigation and prosecution of major corruption cases in accordance with legal regulations.-VNA
