year, according to Singaporean officials.

The centre will be housed at the Interpol Global Complex for Innovation (IGCI) complex, which was handed over to Interpol at a ceremony on September 30.
Addressing the ceremony, Interpol General Secretary Ronald Noble stated that the centre’s operation will focus on countering cyber crimes and training police officers from Interpol state members in the task.
According to Singaporean authorities, the IGCI will provide modern technology and devices proved effective in tackling online crime.
The complex also facilitates information exchange between Interpol and the private sector.
Statistics from RSA Security Inc., a US-based computer and network security company, showed that scam emails caused losses totalled 5.9 billion USD around the world in 2013.
The company said three leading trends of cybercrime are online attacks through mobile devices’ applications, money laundering and malicious software.-VNA
