An international exhibition on paper, pulp and paper-related machinery and equipment opened in Hanoi on June 6.

In addition to domestic paper producers, the three-day event named “Paper Vietnam 2013” also draws the participation of more than 60 businesses and organisations from 14 countries, including India, Japan, the US, Germany, Malaysia, and China, among others.

The exhibition serves as a venue for domestic businesses and their regional partners to meet and establish or expand cooperation.

In the first five months of 2013, Vietnam’s paper sector produced more than 860,000 tonnes of paper products, up by 4.68 percent over the same period last year, according to Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Ho Thi Kim Thoa.

Nearly 70,000 tonnes of the output were exported, an increase of 15.38 percent, she said.-VNA
